West of Sadr

Constellation: Cygnus

A wide field view of the area West of Sadr in the constellation of Cygnus. In this HSO image we see that there are several objects/regions with strong overlapping H-alpha and [S II] signals as well several [O III] filamentsthat have not been described to date.
As can be ssen on the Aladin screen shot below, the nearby SNR G078.2+02.1 is not visible optically as it is hidden by dust of the galactic plane (see below). This raises the question whether the strong [S II] signals (as well as the [O III] filaments further away from the center of the SNR (South, West and North) could be somehow related to this massive SNR as they may not be hidden by dust? Of particular interest in this context are LBN 223 and the region around Dolidze 5 which show structural features in the radio survey that are conspicuously similar to those of the optical signal. While this could be due to a simple line-of-sight coincidence, it is worth exploring this hypothesis.
