Supernova SN2023ixf

Constellation: Ursa Major

Supernova SN2023ixf was discovered by Koichi Itagaki on May 19, 2023. Its magnitude was about 11.3 at the time of imaging. It is located in Messier 101, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, which is about 21 million Ly away. Link to interactive sky chart.

This image was taken on May 29 and 30, 2023. Data for the galaxy was also taken on February 28, 2022.
