Messier 101, The Pinwheel galaxy, is face-on galaxy in the constellation of Ursa Major. It is located about 21 million Ly from Earth. Messier 101 is a large galaxy, with a diameter of 170,000 Ly. Link to interactive sky chart.
To the east, one can see the dwarf galaxy NGC 5477, which is located about 20 million Ly from Earth
