Simeis 57

Constellations: Cygnus

Simeis 57, the Propeller nebula, consists of two Hα emission nebulas (H-II regions) in the constellation of Cygnus. These H-II regions are DWB* 111 and DWB 119. It is thought to be located at a distance of 5’500 Ly from Earth. Link to interactive sky chart.

This image was taken during several nights in September and 2022. It was taken with narrowband filters (Hydrogen-α, Oxygen-III and Sulfure-II).

This image was taken with the Celestron C9.25″ + Hyperstar and the Optolong L-eNhance filter. Total integration time was 13h 8′ and consists of two panes.
