Constellation: Cepheus

Van den Berg (VdB) 152 is an elongated molecular cloud in the constellation of Cepheus. It is about 1’400 Ly away. The dark nebula next to the blue reflection nebula (illuminated by the young stellar object BD+69 1231) is Barnard 175, while the red structure below the reflection nebula is the Herbig-Haro object HH450, a jet emitted from a newly forming star. The thin, red filaments are the remnants of a supernova explosion. Link to interactive sky chart.
