Constellation: Taurus

The Spaghetti nebula (Sh2-240, Simeis 147, SNR G180.0-01.7) is a supernova remnant (SNR) located in the constellation Taurus. It is roughly 3’000 Ly from Earth. Sh2-240 is very large with an apparent diameter of approx 3 degrees (or six full Moons) spanning approximately 160 ly. The SNR is believed to be around 40’000 years old. It is one of the oldest supernova remnants in the Milky Way that still has a well-defined structure, while being rather faint. Link to interactive sky chart.
