RCW 75

Constellation: Centaurus

RCW 75 (a.k.a Gum 48a) is a faint emission nebula and H II region in the constellation Centaurus. It is located about 5’350-6’500 Ly away. HD 115669 is the bright star located in the central part of RCW 75. It is associated with a very young star cluster (4-6 million years old) known as Stock 16, which ionizes the H II region. The bright blue region of Stock 16 contains the young stellar objects CPD-61 3587 and Stock 16 DGT 60b. Link to interactive sky chart.
