NGC 7284 and NGC 7285
Constellation: Aquarius
NGC 7284 (right) and NGC 7285 (left) (ARP 93) are two galaxies in the process of merging in the constellation Aquarius. They are located 196 million Ly from Earth. NGC 7284 is variously listed as a barred spiral or a lenticular galaxy while 7285 is classified as a spiral galaxy. There is a massive tidal stream extending around 200,000 Ly to the South resulting from their interaction.
To the NNE one can also see the galaxy LEDA 134397, while to the NW we see LEDA 786141 near the star TYC 6962-1387-1. The edge-on galaxy SE of LEDA 786141 is LEDA 785905. Link to interactive sky chart.
