NGC 2547
Constellation: Vela
NGC 2547 is a young open cluster in the constellation Vela. NGC 2547 formed about 30 million years ago. Observations with the Spitzer Space Telescope* showed a shell around the B3 III/IV-type star HD 68478. This could be a sign of recent mass loss in this star. This mass loss is visible in red around the large bright star in the cluster. Also, the core of the cluster creates a bluish reflection nebula. Link to interactive sky chart.
