Messier 31, 32 and 110

Constellation: Andromeda

Messier 31, the Andromeda galaxy, is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda that is about 2.5 million Ly from Earth. Messier 32, is a dwarf “early-type” satellite galaxy of Messier 31. Messier 110, is a dwarf helipical staellite galaxy of Messier 31. All these galaxies are part of the Local Group. NGC 206 is a bright star cloud inside Messier 31.

Due to the filter used during imaging, many H-II regions (in red) are revealed in Messier 31. These are regions of atomic hydrogen that is ionized, where star formation has recently taken place.
